Beekeeping development in MaMaBay

This study explores the potential of beekeeping as a sustainable activity in the MaMaBay landscape. It shows that honey production can both diversify community incomes and strengthen ecosystem conservation through pollination and improved natural resource management. For ECM, it paves the way for a new, high-impact sector, complementary to agroforestry cocoa and aligned with its conservation business model.
Technical documents on dynamic agroforestry
Link to a presentation on dynamic agroforestry.
Dynamic agroforestry (DAF) is a regenerative agricultural approach
inspired by ecological succession and the functioning of
forest ecosystems. Crops such as cocoa, coffee,
coconut, cashew, and oil palm are integrated with
various forest, food, and biomass-producing species
within multi-layered systems, where plants interact and
contribute to each other’s development. Through strategic sizing
and high plant diversity, these systems regenerate
soil fertility, enhance biodiversity, and create
resilient agroecosystems that ensure the long-term food security
of farmers.
Conservation Agreements
Link to the template used for our Conservation Agreements.
Conservation agreements are central to the ECM model. They reflect communities’ commitment to protecting forests and adopting sustainable practices in exchange for economic, technical, and commercial support. This mechanism directly links local development, responsible production, and biodiversity preservation within the MaMaBay landscape.
